I'm really close to pulling the trigger on a new set of the Turbine Golds. However, I'm finding it difficult to let go of the cash because I really can't get a feel for how much of an improvement the Golds are over the original Turbines (which I already own). The consensus with everyone seems to be that the Gold's are indeed an improvement across the board. But, by how much? 20%, 50%, 100%? I have not seen any posts that really contrast the two (unless I missed it). Comments would be appreciated!!

SEE PROS & CONS. NOTE: The clamping factor will obviously differ from person to person, but I'm surprised to find little mention of it, as it is the sole reason I'd never think twice about...

When I listened to the sound for the 1st time, I was hit by it. I was punched by the not-punchy-bass. I was hoping it would offer much better bass response than SE315.. equals to Klipsch Image...

There are many posts comparing the original Turbines with the MTPs (gold and copper). Yes, the Pros are a significant improvement to me and many others, in both sound and physical build quality. The value decision is up to you. I was listening to my original Turbines last night, and after a year with these, they still impress me. The Pros, to me, are a large step forward in neutrality while retaining the bass, clear mids, and extended treble of the Turbines.

Call J&R and ask for the best price they can offer. I did this a week ago and the rep told me they had them for $199 with free shipping.
Personally, I haven't been too impressed of them, but that's just because I prefer a brighter, more airy sound than they offer. Everything I've read, however, suggests that they are considerably better than the original Turbines in just about every way (except price?).
