Tesco price hike!!! Jaffa Cake supply threatened... - Page 2

Tesco did a 3 pack of Jaffa Cakes not long ago for only £1. I've noticed Ginsters have toyed with massive price adjustment too. I fear it is price testing to find the new critical price point to maximise profit. It is nothing more than market optimisation on a product with elastic demand. They might sell less at a higher price but overall profit increased.

Manufacturers are getting squeezed from higher supply costs and lower consumer spend.

I'll abstain from Jaffa Cakes for lent, or until the price drops, whichever is the sooner!

My average jaffa cake consumption rate is 8 cakes/day, or 2/3 of a packet per day.

For the old pricing that is 365*0.38*(2/3) = £92.47 per year.

After the price hike: 365*0.54*(2/3) = £131.40 per year.

Yikes!

Also, 8*365*5 = 14600 Jaffa Cakes in the last 5 years!

I will be contacting McVities and asking if they are interested in sponsoring me.

Well tesco jaffas aren't the best I've ever had. Here in PL the price is somewhere at 1,50PLN which is ~34p
I prefer local manufacturer's jaffas though. They goes ~1pound however. But the taste is much better.

Only 54p? Sounds cheap to me...
Around here a 12 pack would set you back around 1£ 50p
