Ampt Ipod or Sony nwz-x1060 =best SQ

Hi every one,
There is one simpel question; what sounds better a un-ampt sony nwz-x1060
or a ampt Ipod classic with the use of a lot. If I go for the Ipod I am thinking of buying the Pico Slim. I already own a pair of Westone UM3x IEM's
Please give me some advice.

I don't think you'll get a good answer here.

UM3x get volume out of either unit. Both units suffer the same exact roll off/suck out when driving balanced armature earphones.

One unit: Sony has a 'real' EQ and other sound operations.
One unit: iPod has very little hiss, while the other: Sony, hisses a lot.
One unit: iPod has gapless playback.
One unit: Sony has some dedicated buttons, but both are pretty silly in ditching nicely placed buttons.

The Sony is warmer, has a built-in EQ of about 1 decibel in the bass region - it is much warmer. If you like warm, go for the Sony. If you like neutral (and some call it boring), go for the iPod.

If you ask for SQ, people will say Sony, but they will always have said that because Sony have always played the 'SQ' card. The X sounds very nice if you can get by its hiss, but it is somewhat of a let down if you came from their and other MD players. The touch retrieves as much detail, but has a less dynamic sound due to in no small part, the EQ system which is hardwired into the Sony.

There is a lot of 'enjoyment' at the X thread which can point you to its good qualities.

iPod takes benifits from AMPs as iMod do, on both volume stop working when connect to AMPs through LOD and ipod classic sound quality is really good. The quality LOD cable(like ALO 18AWG SXC, 18AWG jumbo Cryo) + quality AMPs are very important to get maximum out of ipod classic. The Sony X series walkmen are very good if portability is more important and they sound very clean and detailed. They don't has the same output power and soundstage as ipod classic+AMPs.

Dear,
What do you think the question should be? I like a neutral shound more than a very warm sound. When I listed to the Ipod Classic with Lossless music I noticed that the bass wan not tight and the height weren't very detailed.
I also so found the balance between the bass and the treble a bit strange. There was more bass than needed, At least I thought that was the case. But when the Ipod has a tight bass and clear and detailed heights with a amp than I really want a Ipod with a amp instead of a sony x. I need to know if a amp provides a tighter bass and better detailed hights?
