Of course it needs an amp to really shine. However any bright sounding amp will work fine with the RE1. The FiiO E1 makes a decent combination with the RE1. Its soundstage is really amazing. In fact ClieOS gave it a 5 star rating for soundstage.
I forgot to say that wont be using any amps, and I've heard RE1 has very wide soundstage, but on par with RE0s SQ.

Thx

^^ No the RE0s sound different. The RE0s and RE1s have similar bass but thats about it. The Re0s have better, more extended treble while the RE1s have a muted treble that does not extend much. The midrange of the RE1 is also smoother, more neutral than the RE0s slightly recessed midrange.

However I can fully appreciate your dislike for an amp. I sometimes wonder myself why I went down that route !

Can you get the brainwavz hybrids by themself?

Unfortunately I don't think you can, Soundmagic also uses the same foamhybrids but theirs have a plastic core that can be removed. If enough people start asking for them, maybe they will start selling them separately?

Ebay seller lionking735 does have some foamhybrids that look quite like the Brainwavz ones, haven't bought any of them myself though.

Those ebay foamhybrids are nice. They come in two inner core sizes but the outer size only corresponds to the Soundmagic/Brainwavz L-size. Larger core size can even be coaxed onto a UE nozzle. Smaller core size can do the same if de-cored.

Where's best to buy Hippo VB?

Can anyone compare them to UE.fi5, IE6 or hf5, please?
