Hi ericp, yes that was my gess,ill give it a try next time i put the ortos in my ears, im going to try out my new coppers tomorrow looking forward to hearing them after reading your thoughts on them and see'ing how they stack up against my golds.

I think you're going to love the Coppers if you like the golds. From what I've been reading @ lucozade, the Coppers are somewhat more detailed than the Golds (Coppers were meant to be reference quality). Not as wide of a soundstage as the Ortos or IE8, but I am absolutely in love with the sound signature. The details are outstanding to me, with that great bass. They need some burning in as I'm sure you are aware with your Golds. Ortos still my favorite, but Coppers aren't too far behind... Enjoy!

This is an easy thread for me, I'm really trying to stay active in the threads I'm enjoying, and yes @ lucozede...eric is correct. But he knew for sure what I meant. I am still lookinf for a slightly bigger tip, but pretty happy with the double flange. The orto's are a huge leap in transparency, what they offer is not going to be for everyone. But I love them, many will just not get them. I don't see these getting hugely popular, it's kind of like going to a Jazz club, and sitting real close to the musicians. Or any thing else you can imagine that seems to create all the nuances, I'm not talking the normal raves about details, those are normally just areas that are forward presented on an iem or whatever, These are special. But... not for everyone (in my opinion)

Agree @ my e-friend search. By the way buddy, I think I've found the perfect tip for the Orto and Copper. They are actually a special formulated foam tip made by the Japanese company who made those Xears IEM I've been raving about on another thread. They seem to give breathing room to the e-Q7 while controlling the bass and keeping it tight. For the Coppers, I did get the pfe and they provide balance in sound, but are bit restrictive. The orange foams (they are orange) seems to open the sound up in the middle and high register, yet keep the integrity of the bass. I did try the phonak on the Ortos, and it did enhance the vocals, but took away from the bass in my opinion. Will use the phonak with the Coppers when I want a more balanced sound. It is amazing how pieces of rubber or foam tips can significantly change the sound coming out IEMs.

^^^^ Agreed on the orto's not playing nice with pfe tips. Sadly I can't get alonhg with foam. I am willing to try these tips you speak of though, If I like them, it would be a first. I never turn down a possible answer, allthough, the MD set play much better with my ears, than either pro. So tips for it, are not an issue. In the mean time, I've been frantically paced trying to keep my life and music and lifting in order. By the way, did your s545 come with that supid proprietary plug? Mine did, my only beef though, no time to listen to it yet. I'm plugged in.....man I need a music vacation. Jazz journalist= labor of love.

most sonys if not all if not all come with that proprietary usb if im not mistaken...assuming s545 is the sony dap

Actually all my E series use mini usb. oh, and yes it is. I was surprised to get the mini usb, and for that reason alone continued getting the E series, based on factors and deal findings with eric, I ordered an S series, and no mini usb, hardly a big deal, I get confused with all the different plugs. I wish the mini usb would be used more often. But I fully understand why it's probably not going to happen. Can't sell a plug for 30 dollars if everyone sells it.

oh..maybe its just the e series :P the one i have is probably the same connector as your s545..just dont lose the proprietary cable :P

I heard Sony's came with the proprietary plug (meaning you can only plug it into Sony products??)... But the other end is a regular usb connector as I have it plugged into my iMac (I don't own a PC). I have found it easy to drag and drop music files from iTunes into the S545. I was reading that prior to the S545 this wasn't an easy task with the iTunes. I can use DRM free mp3 or mp4... It works. Man, these foams are amazing with the Ortos....wow!! It doesn't seem to close the soundstage, but magnify it in clarity (like the Ortos could get anymore transparent and clear, but they can)... Listening to Nirvana and it's blowing my mind @ search!! lol

I remember when I first got my IE8s, it was sounding good but was not really sure. Today I can say they are one of the best IEMs existing.

On Monday the e-Q7 came. Nice box I have to say. Well I did not wait too much to hear them. Took a short look on the ear-tips, took the smalest, since I have small ears...

Plugged it in my laptop and wow. I was not expecting a WOW-effect that fast, since it took some time to appreciate the IE8s for example, but the e-Q7 blew me offfffff.

Ok, there are already a lot of impressions, so there is no need for me to describe them further. I tried them with my whole dap collection, I have to say they fit very good with the Cowon D2+. Ok I may have some better sounding equipment, but when I combine them, the soundsignature appreciates me best.

EQ: MET / BBE: 1 / Mach3Bass: 3 / 3D Surround: 1 / Stereo Enhance: 1
