For piano, Chopin is hard to beat. His waltzes have to be some of the greatest music ever written.
To think he died of tuberculosis, now (usually) easily treated.....*sigh*

Ah, that must be the reason I felt like starting the day with a disc of his Mazurkas (Rubinstein, 1938-1939).

There was some thought that it was cystic fibrosis, which still usually causes a premature death.
