Yamaha Silent Cinema paired with Ultrasone

Hey guys, /wave

I recently purchased a pair of Ultrasone HFI 780s and was wondering how the S Logic surround sound technology built into the headphone sounds with a receiver like yamaha using Silent Cinema simmulated surround sound mode(or another receiver using dolby headphone mode)..

I am concerned that the ultrasone S Logic interferes with the silent cinema mode and things will appear more distorted than when the HFI 780 is just paired with an amplifier. Im sure regular headphones without S Logic sound good with silent cinema, but I'm a bit worried about ultrasone.

Does anyone have any experience with DSP(silent cinema) and S Logic combined?

thank you,
Jon

I have it but I am not impressed by the amp part of the RX-V663 at all. I have some phono to rca cable but I haven´t used it much. My Ultrasones doesn´t need silent cinema, dolby headphone or other dsp modes that much.

It doesn´t really distort much but then my ultrasones are definiatly underamped on it. Soundstage shrinks a lot which is maybe not what you expect from such modes.

I know I'm pretty late in the game here and your questions may all be answered,

But which receiver do you own?

I like the Silent Cinema on my Yamaha, but I tell you what sounds the best to me is running it in Direct Mode.  You watch something like Band of Brothers in Direct Mode and it's true surround.  My Edition 8's THUNDER and perform really good in this mode.

Much better on my cheaper Yamaha 465 than on my Harmon Kardon.
