I have had this for years and just dug it out. My computer doesn't recognize it when I plug it in, and I tried to charge it using a universal charger. This thing has not been abused, and looks perfect, but doesn't power up. I haven't used it in several years. Can anyone hazard a guess as to what the problem might be and whether this is something I could take apart and fix easily, perhaps with a new battery, and/or hd, or is this something that isn't worth the time, trouble and money. The software interface on this was terrible when I used it, but I'm thinking if I could get it working I could put Rockbox on it. As I recall the sound quality was excellent for a portable and always sounded better than my IPODS. Any suggestions, or should I just bag it, and stick with my 60 GIG Ipod Video. Thanks for your time.

My guess would be it needs a new battery.

Presumably, you've tried powering up while it's connected to the charger? It's likely that the battery has had it if it's been left for a long time with no power. They can then never power up again.
If it goes on while the charger is in, then it's a question of putting a new battery in.

I think you're right in that it isnt worth the time and money bothering with it, so if ya send it to me i'll cover the shipping costs lol
alternatively, deffo try a new battery first, if youve never used the wrong charger and it always worked before then thats most likely problem

Try leaving it charging for a while. By a while I mean at least a day. I bought some refurbished h320s a while back and two of them seemed totally dead. I charged them for several hours and they finally powered on.
The battery must have discharged to almost zero after years. This evidently takes a while to recover from. You might be lucky or you might need a new battery.
