Your lucky. The bands brake easily. I had this on all three in different ways. Replacement band on two of them was 400 on one and 550 on the other. I also had discoloration of the face of the watch after going to california for a month. The sweat that evaporated off my arm somehow managed to get into it rusting the inside and discoloring the crystal. They said they see this problem quite often and they want 790 to fix it and they said thell put a water proof seal on it this time. Scraped that one. Its a shame since I love the elegant clean look of them.

I have a Tag Heuer Carrera that retailed for $1050. It has a classic simple look and is light and automatic, kinda cool, just what i was looking for and yes a leather band.

The watch itself has been fine, but yes, the band does seem to wear out quite easily.

I too am looking for a watch in the $1,000 range (college graduation coming up). I'd like it to be new and automatic, with a leather band and simple face, which seems to limit my options.

I really like the simple version of the Tag Heuer Carerra, and some of the Stowa watches that have already been suggested - are there any others I should be considering? Thanks.
