Post it.

Mine would be this one: YouTube - Swans - God Damn The Sun (video edit : electronaut )

The lyrics, the mood, vocals, the string section, everything.

The most depressive song I heard was a piece of musical blasphemy. The 25th anniversary edition of 'Thriller' has a some covers/remakes by the Black Eyed Peas. The same group who made tracks with James Brown and Macy Gray.

They made a version of 'Beat It' sung by Fergie with a distorted guitar solo. 'Beat It' in itself is a piece of music that still sounds good and doesn't need 'improving' or remaking but to make it it sound worse is for me a crime against music. Worst of all, the Black Eyed Peas, Will.I.Am and Fergie committed 'that crime.'

A good track that makes me sad? 'History' by The Verve.

Is it bad that I'm listening to all of these right now?

Hmm...Jeff Buckley's Lover You Shouldve Come Over comes to mind, if only for the vocals...other than that my mind is just drawing a blank.

Barber's Adagio for Strings was also the first to come to my mind.

Listen to the lyrics of this but make sure you have no sharp implements lying around

YouTube - BEASLEY STREET - JOHN COOPER CLARKE

Johnny Bush wrote and recorded, "The Living Dead." Cornell Hurd referred to this song as not the usual down material that county and western artists often perform.

Also Johnny Paycheck performing, "Pardon Me, I've Got Someone to Kill." This, from a man who went to prison twice. Both involved crimes of violence.
