How to stay awake for a week?? - Page 2

Just don't do it. The most I've done is about 72 hours and it ain't fun.

The past week, I've been working quite a bit. I've been in the office from 9-9:30 to 12-1 am almost every day, averaging 4-5 hours of sleep a night.

I can tell when I'm really pushing it when the mild hallucinations kick in. I'll see something move out of the corner of my eye or shadows will do odd things. I usually avoid caffeine (really) because you're tired when it wears off and that leads to a spiral of drinking more that ultimately leaves you a mess.

The good news is that I can pull off a long sleep tonight and go back to the office in the afternoon.

If you don't have to go through sleep deprivation, don't. There's nothing to gain.

Hmm I've only been able to skip 1 night of sleep. I'm not pretty the next day either....

It is an ability that some people have the misfortune to develop. Back in high school, the first time I got 'only' five hours of sleep, I was a mess the next day. Kept blinking all the time, and just felt tired. Now, I can function on four hours a day for over a week. But when I get that busy (thankfully it is a rare occurrence) I try to squeeze in a short nap each day, maybe 20 minutes. Makes a big difference. Still, it's not something I'd ever willfully put myself through without good reason.

Hire a handful people to takes turns on activating you. Making sure you do not close your eyes to take a nap...
That should do the trick.

Are you trying to be Korean?
BBC NEWS | Technology | S Korean dies after games session

I remember this was the biggest news back in the day.

I remember that too.

You just need a group of people who will take turns waking you up when you doze off.

Treadmill in water. Try it. If it works with lab rats to deprive them of sleep, it will with humans as well.

Why do just one week, when you can do two?

Too bad they've stopped this practice in Guantanamo, they were starting to get really good at it.

This past December, I did 58 hours straight while working on a paper... Horrible, horrible thing. The worst feeling was when it hit like 6am on the second day and I realized that there was just another one to follow. I got a 96% on it, though, so it must've worked out pretty well.

i believe they did studies on this and there was one guy who did 5-7 days with no sleep.

looks like it was even longer than that:

What is the world record for staying awake?
