Getting a new cell phone tomorrow - but, which one?!

Well, already having the iPhone 3GS, I know that I like it, however - my secondary phone (Sony Ericcson Xperia X1) has bitten the dust, and I'm looking to get a replacement tomorrow...

...However, I cannot decide between the two contenders which one to get...

I have narrowed it down to two choices

So, out of just these two, which do you think will have the better audio quality, and - which one would you buy - and why?

I have never personally listen to them, but i would choose neither for other reasons.
n900 employs a new OS which has very little apps available for it so far.
and isn't x6 just a sleek version of 5830?

N900

Maemo

i mean come on its practically debian on a phone how awesome is that and the x6 uses bloody S60, the most useless crappy gui of all time making symbian a nightmare to use.

A 5800 with a good set of headphones can deliver very good sound. My 6303 still sounds very good and loud which is handy when sitting in the bus. The Nokia software for music can be a bummer, that's it really. Besides, since calling, texting, mailing and surfing should be the basic functions for the chosen Nokias ask if you can audition a phone in the shop/store.

I prefer to keep my phone basic so I don't like touch screen therefore I can't choose for you.

The X6 runs Symbian
The N900 uses a resistive touchscreen

~I can't decide which is worse~

N900, as it's a pocket computer running Maemo!!! If I'd had a chance to get it on my carrier (Verizon, it'll never happen) I'd have it now.

It's both Nokia, the audio will work fine for both with a nice headset.

I stumbled up on this nice blog. Found a pretty in depth review of E72.

PS: I've an E72

Get the HTC HD2
Well, with that you can upgrade to windows mobile 7 and it's like you're going to get a Zune HD.

NO!!! symbian is not crap, the gui nokia use on it known as series 60 or S60 is whats so god awful not symbian

UIQ using symbian phones were vastly better to use P800i and its followers were a joy to use (well P990i not so much)

I would get the X6 because the N900 is way to thick. but that is just me.

For those of us not living in 1962, Symbian is synonymous with S60 since Nokia bought out its other partners putting an end to such charming handsets as the P1i.

nothing against Nokia, but compared to yogurt pots, it's truly a no brainer.
I just read you can put songbird on a n900, which sounds sort of cool. Are you going to use it as a phone/back up DAP or are you going to use it as a primary multifunctional device? You said back up phone, I have a 3g iphone, and I use almost everything, from remote shooting my camera, primary DAP, calendar and I sometimes even call people. I guess I have no idea on how to rate a back up phone? Never thought of needing or having one. I would say the cheapest piece of make a phone call technology you can get. After all it's only a backup right?

Sorry to intrude in asking something off topic, as I don't want to waste a new thread.

Is the SQ on Sony's phones something to bother to? (considering that I have a iPhone 3G now)

Little update from me...

I ended up getting the N900... Not sure about 'Songbird', but I will check it out (I just like the fact you can 'program' the N900... I like thinking outside the box, but don't have the SDK, or the will to do anything Apple related)...

Sound quality is a fairly primary factor, still not sure if I am happy with that aspect or not, the sound is far less 'exciting' than the iPhone, but at the same time it feels more accurate, more right... Time will tell if I feel whether it is better than the iPhone or not...

As to KLS' question, cannot say I am sure - I only have the Xperia (and the C905, but I only used that with bluetooth as it didn't have a 3.5mm jack), and the Xperia isn't really anything to shout about (then again - it is made by HTC - how much input SE had in picking the hardware is anyones guess)...

Thanks
