but Bent Audio already has the product ready to go and has designed the circuit. There isn't much involved though because it's a stepped attenuator. It knows what one step is even after the amp has been turned off and back on, and if you manually turn the knob. With a pot though, if you turn the knob manually the motor has no way to keep track of the last place it was at before you manually turned it, and thus the motor would keep trying to turn the pot beyond it's potential and eventually cause the motor to burn out. With the stepped motor drive, the motor is aligned to the 24 positions on the DACT. Power is only going to the motor when the button is pressed on the remote and the drive engages the next step. Once engaged, power turns off.
