Next IEM: IE7 or IE8, help - Page 2

IE series quality is very very good, among our best, however, there have been a lot of counterfeits out there. If you get one from an authorized dealer you have nothing to worry about except for when you're going to find time to take them out to stop listening

This is my opinions. If you don't really-really-really want to hear bass all-all-all the time, it is better go with IE7.

I disagree with this statement in regards to the IE8. The build quality is only okay, I've seen several people mentioned they've broken their pairs.

Hi knights, i have the ie8 and p3+ ,try the following combination , i find this to make the ie8s sound supurb LM6172 on L/R + 2x TRANSISTOR BUFF +AD8066 on g and v .................this combo reduces the upper bass colouration of the vocals ,making the bass and the vocals sound more natural,to my ears enyways

Can you tell us how you broke your pair?

Just got my IE8s...impressions to come. So far, I'm liking them but am not floored. Then again, it took me a day or so to warm up to my favorite W3s.

I tried for 10 minutes to get the Sony hybrids onto the IE8s, but they just won't slide all the way on. Anyone have tips for how to get these to fit?

Invert the tip from =]] to =[[, then squeeze the base of the stem, attach the other end to the nozzle of the IE8, and revert back to =]]. It takes some practice and patience, but it works for me.

The only time I've heard of the IE8 breaking is when someone tries to take off Comply T400 foam tips. It happened to me, but it was the adhesion of the glue that broke, and the stem can be easily put back into place. All I did was use a bit of epoxy and it's good as new. When it first happened, I thought I broke the stem, but upon further inspection, that wasn't the case. If anyone is interested in using comply tips for the IE8, get the T500 not the T400. The T500 is much easier to take off the nozzle.

I was trying to clean the tips, so as I was gently (emphasizing gently) pulling the tip off and the earphone flange pulled off. The glue that was holding them together just...well, unglued. It might have also broken a small piece of the driver housing along with it. Honestly, when I took a closer look at it, it was the weakest part of the housing, but probably the point with the most torque put on it on a daily basis.

2 main difference for me between the ie7 and ie8:
ie7 has more forward mids
ie8 has more sparklier highs

main difference between ie7 & ie8
ie7 :vocals are more forward in the mix , bass is just as prominant on ie7 as on the ie8 but its a more even bass
treble is very nearly as detailed as on the ie8 ,but it is much less refined crude sounding

ie8: the upper bass is tweeked up which tends to colour the vocals
treble is much smoother and better controled bringing out details in music in a pleasent way
soundstage is about 25% larger than the ie7

I bought both the ie7 and the ie8, and I currently own the ck10 and the er4p. So far, the er4p are still my favorite as I wait for the ie7 and ie8 to come in. The ck10 sound very detailed on rock songs, or classical, but any song with any low end bass, things started to get bloated.

I just got the ie7 in and wow, upon first impression when compared to the ck10 or er4p, they sound awful, the midbass is bloated, heck the bass isn't even in the low end. It is in between the low end and the mid region, in a akward position. The treble is okay but for how expensive these are they lack detail. I am letting them break in and will give a second opinion but I am not impressed.
