Next IEM: IE7 or IE8, help

I have read almost every review on both the ie7 and ie8 and feel like either one would suite me well. There are two things that concern me though. On a thread, one user posted that a part of the ie8 came off and looked like it was superglued by the company. Is the ie8 fairly fragile and if so does the ie7 build differ? One other, some users state that the bass on the ie8 can sometimes over power the midbass or over tack vocals, however, they did not mention the significance. If it only does it time to time on certian songs, and not that badly then I wouldn't mind. Also does the ie7 sound better overall since it has less bass?

From what I've read the build quality on the IE series is usually pretty good (especially the cables). Maybe that was an isolated incident? The IE8 is said to have a sound closer to that of a full size headphone. Make no mistake, it's bassy, but with the adjustable bass response at minimum and with maybe a bit of EQing it should suit you fine. I've seen plenty of people here with both the IE8 and either the RE0 or ER4P in their signature; if they can get used to the bass off bass light IEMs it shouldn't be a problem for you.

I say go for the IE8. They're the superior one.

What really atracts me to the ie7 or ie8 is the soundstage described by everyone who owns them, is there really any other headphone out there with this unique soundstage?

IE8 pretty good, but not that great for analytical music
1. Great soundstage
2. Very comfortable
3. Looks great
4. Great build quality (these are VERY sturdy)
5. Godlike cable quality
6. Bassy
7. Fun

What if you take the ie8 and compare it to the monster pro copper as well?

What do you listen to?
I've never tried the MTP Copper.

My favorite artists are:
John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Atreyu, Coldplay, Ben Harper, ZZ Top, Jemi Hendrix, but the thing is I also like R&B, so I have to sacrifice something it seems like.

How about strictly the comparison of the IE8 and the Monster Pro Copper.

I have decided to go with the IE8, on a graph comparing the frequencies to the Monster Pro Copper or Gold, the Gold mid is too boring, and the highs end earlier, where as the copper are more money then I want to spend. The IE8 has a unique frequency, very poppy mid bass it seams like and still good enough highs. That is my verdict.

i have ie8 for almost a month now... the upper bass is what worries me... everytime i listen to the more neutral ie7 makes me consider of downgrading... though i still have lots of op-amp rolling and burn-in to play...

my combo for (p3+) ie8 is ad712 on LR + 2x buf634 + dummies on G and V... very airy sound and lush mids..

the 8 is the better of the two but personally i prefer the sound of the 7, more balanced if still bassy. the 8 has tons of bass and is quite trebly too. i like mids and they are nicer on the 7

pm Mark.... your genre of music? soundstage comparison (burned in ie7 and ie8)?
well i like things with vocals so the V shaped 8 doesnt always go so well and its bass was always a bit much for me, the 7 dials down the bass and the treble and ups the mids. soundstage is smaller than the 8 but its still bigger than most of whats out there.

the 7 is just more gentle and pleasant all over
