Anyone here that has/is currently participating in the Essentially Ellington competition? My jazz band just got the notice that we were invited to go to New York... I'm feelin' so crazy right now.

Bravo!! Has your high school band made the cut before, or will this be its first trip? Either way, that's pretty cool.

This is our first time going, the 11th year we've tried out. We've been top 20 past couple years, but this is the first time we made the cut!

On the recording we did Roll 'Em, I Got it Bad, and Feet Bone.

Wow!…a Mary Lou Williams tune…"Roll 'Em"…that's pretty hip. Keep us posted on how it turns out.
