This is based on the same project in headwize. I used the optimized circuit.
all quality parts: Dale Vishay RN 1/2W resistors, BHC/Nichicon Muse/Solen caps, Hammond case and transformer, Cardas RCA connectors. Volume control is provided by an Elma rotary switch populated with Dale Vishay RN.
Due to the simplicity of the circuit, the amp is hardwired (i.e. no PCB).
I've used this amp with a CD3000 and DT880 phones and it seems very nice to me (obviously subjective topic). The amp is dead silent to my ears even at full volume when no source is connected.
It's surplus to my needs and it has been gathering dusts. I am currently using 3x Mullard gold-pin 6922 and these are fairly new (about 6 months worth of used). The rectifier tube is used is 6x5gt.
The amp has been electrically tested at work (all electrical equipment needs to be tested before it can be used) and it passed without any changes required.
The amp will include the tubes (see above) it's currently using plus 3 6DJ8-family tubes and 1 6X5GT rectifier tube.
