BenQ Led backlit monitors?

What do you think about them as a low cost option? I was thinking about this G2222HDL, but also considered even its smaller 19'' brothers such as G920WL

Do you know if there is that uneven brightness effect due to the positioning of the leds only at the edge of the screen? Also, should I want to use (sometimes only, don't yell at me!) only the center of the screen such as in the first picture attached, is this possible with any video card by simply setting a lower resolution and choosing "do not scale" or I might not be able to do this with my Ati Radeon 9200 series? Because now that I use a CRT I don't get the "do not scale" option at all - see second attachment.

Sorry for the stupid question, I'm not quite "video proficient".

Thanks!

A better option would be one of the LG LED backlit screens. They are actually backlit, not edge lit.

I guess so, but the W2286L is almost 70% more expensive than the 22'' BenQ in my country and about 50% more expensive than the bigger 24'' BenQ, and I'm really on a budget. The main reason for this purchase is the desire to part with my current CRT monitor for the sake of my eyes and my son's as well. Since he was complaining lately of sore eyes after watching the monitor - and even after watching a cartoon on an older laptop - and since totally avoiding monitor exposure is unfortunately not realistic, as much as I'd like this for him, I thought I should try another kind of monitor and since the led backlit LCDs don't have fluorescent light like my laptop's I thought one of those could be the solution.

So, going back to my previous post...
