I need a very very very very fast electric kettle thats boils about 1 litters of water in less than 20 seconds. My budget is around 50$ but I can go up to 150$ if needed. thanks.

^They don't exist as far as I know. Kamjove makes some good ones for under $50, but none that will boil a full liter in 20s. They are pretty fast though, and will obviously get faster after the first liter since they would already be warm.

It would have to be something like 17,000 watts to heat a litre of water from room temperature to boiling in 20 seconds. Good luck with that.

and would it be faster if I heated the kettle first, then put in water and boiled it?

Whatever happened to:

"...people used to
spend an hour making tea
easy, easy was the rule..."

(by Donovan Leitch)

I have an old (the style is Art Deco) pot by Sunbeam, which had been the bottom section of a vacuum coffee maker. It pulls 1000 watts, is made of copper to even the heat out, and boils water very quickly. I picked it up at a garage sale for a very few bucks, and you would have a hard time finding anything that could do better. The quality is top-notch too.

They don't exist, especially not in America.

I can't believe I actually just boiled a liter of water in my Braun kettle to test the speed to boil. Have I really nothing more interesting to do? I guess not. With an icy cold liter of fresh tap water, it took precisely 3 minutes 12 seconds. I'm in a hurry for a nice cup of tea sometimes, but I suppose I've trained myself to endure the 3+ minute wait as I get the cup, strainer and tea leaves ready in the meantime.

Good luck getting ahold of one, and a fuse to withstand the power consumption.

okay, speaking of having way too much time on their hands, i calculated the actual result. sadly, Bob McBob almost guessed it on the nose so my time was kind of a waste, lol. such is much research!

^ I'm betting that kettle won't have an energy star rating?

It would work better if you heated up a chunk of metal in a fireplace first, then dropped it into pot of water.
