Old Sennheiser HD535s: worth repairing?

I have a ten-year old or so set of HD535s. At some point, long ago I tried to fortify/secure the lame spring clip cable connectors (movement of the replaceable cables resulted in crackling) just inside the can housings. I ended up ham-fisting the job like a virgin on prom night. I snapped the tiny hair-thin wire leading from the spring connector to the speaker. Yes. I cried.

My questions: are they worth repairing? And do you guys have any advice on DIYing such a microscopic soldering task, and replacing the spring clips, or can you suggest a repair facility?

Thanks,

Grrr. Oh well. I gave it a go, got out my solder iron, clamps and an electron microscope and succeeded in putting the tiniest smear of solder I've ever made on the severed wires. I interrupted my wife watching Project Runway twice to jack into the amp. Still nothing from the right channel.

At this point, I can only guess that either those mouse floss red wires actually have insulation, or the speaker's popped. I suppose I could send them to Sennheiser, but out-of-warranty means a flat fee ($150? don't know because Sennheiser's SQL server backend for their website has been borked all day). Let me know if anyone has any ideas before my cat gets a new toy.

Try dumping it on eBay, I'm sure someone will buy it for a pretty penny.
