Sony X walkman - $400CDN brand new - should I jump on it?

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter
I got offered a brand new X walkman 32GB for $400CDN (about $350US). Is that a good deal? Its reg $450CDN. I looked online and the cheapest ive found online including EBAY is $400CDN plus ship.

What I want to know is what makes the X series better than the S series (which is half the price mind you), aside from the touchscreen. Is the DAC on the X a lot better?

Take my post with a grain of salt, since I don't own either of these.

Go to a Future Shop, or Best Buy, and they will probably have an S-Series on display. They're nicely built for the price, but I felt that they were not as sturdy as the ZuneHD/X/iPodTouch. Second, navigation kinda sucks on it, for my tastes. If you haven't been spoiled by touch screen navigation, it might be fine.

And yes, it's generally agreed that the Xs DAC is a lot better.

Right now, if you're even considering it, there's a pretty good price on the ZuneHD on amazon.com (US), so if you have a way of getting it, it might not be a bad deal.

{Disclaimer: most people also think that the X is better than the ZHD as well}

EDIT: I haven't been on here recently, so I didn't notice the thread that addresses what you're talking about exactly.
