LOD vs HPO for my 3Gs & iPod 7th gen???

I am saving for a high quality cable for my iphone and ipod to hook up to my nice stereo. I would appreciate your trusted opinions. Before we talk brand, I need to know if the better SQ is going to come from the headphone out or the line out dock? Thanks folks!

of course the line out dock , the signal is cleaner

Line out for a better sound. Keep in mind it's not a "true" line out, rather a "glorified" headphone out. If you want true line out from an iPod you're going to have to get an iMod.

IMOD for 7th gen??? Anyone?

Ok, so I own iPod 5th, 6th and 7th gen stock, and there is no comparison (headphone out), the 7th gen smokes the others. With that said... Does anyone think it would be a good idea to IMOD my 7th gen? Yeah yeah yeah, it doesn't have the Wolfson dacs, but I really don't think that is the end all, be all, glorified aspect of what makes an ipod great or sufforable.

Has anyone tried this? Just curious. It would be so cool, to have the latest software and options from the 7th gen, along with 160 gigs...
