Hi,
I recently bought a cmoy amp from ebay. It has the opa2134 chip good caps etc and seems well built. It drives my hp1000's much better than my soundcard or amp headphone out. The only problem is a slight channel imbalance at low volume which is shame because I like to listen at low volume. The pot is an alps rk097 which I think is known for this problem.
I was thinking of replacing the pot but im not sure how hard it would be, I have limited soldering skills. What would be a good replacement pot for the rk097? Alternatively I was thinking of buying one of those shure in-line volume controls but im not sure if there would be an impact on sound quality. Finally would it be ok to use a 9v psu with a battery terminal adaptor to power the cmoy? I actually have a low noise 9v psu for guitar effect pedals and would use that to save battery's.
Thanks
