Going to test these babies out tonight.

Unfortunately, I didn't do enough research need to be an adapter to be able to connect to my Macbook Pro. What kind of adapter do I need?

Also, how do these sound with Jazz (ala Davis, Coltrane, etc.), hip-hop, R&B, and today's "Smooth Jazz" (ala Diana Krall, Fourplay, etc.).

Thanks.

Just go to Radio Shack tonight and pick up a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter. Ideally, I would get:

Grado Mini Adapter [Mini Adapter] - $14.95 : TTVJ, Home of High End Audio

Great buy! My favourite Grado in the SR series. I would hold off on upgrading unless you're looking at the RS1i.

I second the above adapter choice but if you can't wait to listen to these on your macbook, radioshack has 1/4" to 1/8" adapters for cheap that will do the trick.

Congrats!

Remember they will change in sound as they burn in. I was amazed at how my SR80i seemed to shift daily and now have settled into a wonderful tone... and got much more comfy too!

Ok cool, I'll go with the Radio Shack option and then order the ones you suggested tonight. No biggie.

Can't wait to hear some Diana Krall and Sade on these.

Radio Shack's 1/8" adapter is terrible with the 225's. The weight of the 225 cable makes it lean in the socket. The 225's really need an adapter designed like the Grado one you linked to. B&H photo often has it on sale for $10.

Congrats on your 225's, BTW. They are my favorite Grado headphones, especially in bang for the buck.

The Radio Shack is just a stop gap for $5 until you can order the Grado adapter (which I highly recommend!).

Give them at least 24 hours of solid burn in before making up your mind on them. I found that they really changed and improved over this time period. After about 100 hours, they should settle right in.

I would also recommend rock, rock and more rock with them too!

Ya, I'm going to rock them out tonight until Lost comes on (I'm an addict), then jam some more with a variety of genre's and just let my laptop play all night and while I'm at work tomorrow. I'll have them a nice burn in.

How do they sound with hard hitting tracks, such as Sade's Soldier of Love track or hip hop music?

Congratulations Razeus!
You have bought a nice headphone. If I am going to buy again, it will be definitely a Grado. Either SR60i/225i is enough. Welcome to the audio world.

That was my first Grado to, great pair of headphones. And dont worry, you will love them with many styles. If I were you I would go and buy some portable amp for them, like GoVibe Magnum, just for little more kick in their a..

Congrat's. The SR-225i's are amazing Grados for the price. Makes me miss mine quite a bit!
