Power outage while playing Shenmue, fried the power board and two fuses, replaced them and was working fine for a month after that while playing Shemmue2 got a freeze screen and the smell of burnt plastic, opened the case and found the DC PCB fried.
 
 
It was the final sign that Yu suzuki would never do Shenmue 3.

Shame... Granted, PS3 has Yakuza, which is a fantastic series reminiscent of Shenmue. I do hope they finish the series eventually... That game is literally the only reason why I have kept my DC.
