Why do car companies refer to their product as "Pontiac G6" or "Toyota Corolla", without "the"...

It just doesn't really make sense to me. Like on Head-Fi, the GMC ads littered all over the place (when I'm not using firefox ) say "Is GMC Acadia right for you?" Why don't they include the "the"? "Is the GMC Acadia right for you?" sounds so much more natural.

I agree in most cases. I feel like a lot of companies do something like this with their product.

It's a marketing affectation, i.e. magical thinking. Somehow they believe that treating their product as if it were a person and not a thing will make people respect and appreciate it more.
