CKKIII DIY kit?

Hi all

im very new to this DIY business, but im looking for an amp to pair with my k701s. i got my eye set on the CKKIII and i got a friend who is willing to build it for me if i got the parts. The problem is, AMB only offers the main parts, and everything else i have to scout for. is there a site where i can just buy a kit? without the housing(chassis) is ok.

or if you have another suggestion for an amp that pairs very well with the k701s that comes in a nice packaged kit im definitely open to it

thanks for the help

Why not just build your own kit? Digikey Canada should have every part you need, and you'll actually do something.

i have no understanding of the electricity parts, i got the list of the parts list, am i looking for the RXX on the website? or something like 1/8W 1% metal film resistor 1MΩ?

p.s. i saw another person's thread who posted their cart and i just wanted to use it for myself, yeah im that lazy.

edit: nvm, im in wayy over my head, just going to the for sale forum and pick up a used one, keep the econ going

Assembling the parts is a lot of the fun of smaller DIY projects. If you are doing something like a beta-22, the sheer number of parts probably makes it better to use a kit, but if you're building one of those, you've probably done plenty of parts ordering on other builds.

Plus, it is a skill that you will need if you plan to do any kind of DIY. You need to be able to navigate digikey and mouser or newark and find what you need. You will need a part and have to learn eventually, so go for the CK2III.

For stuffing a board, especially one such as the CKK-III which includes the power supply and most components on the PCB, you simply follow the parts list on the website and find exactly what it calls for. For capacitors, look at same type, minimum voltage rating and capacitance value (and hopefully same lead spacing), for resistors, keep to 1% metal film in 1/8W or 1/4W ratings unless otherwise stated. There really isn't much to it when you follow the parts list to the dot, and in this project, you should. Go on, have fun with it and if you aren't sure you got everything you need or about a certain part, I'm sure the people here would be happy to provide help and advice, you simply have to make an effort to try before asking for help (especially when such help is "give me everything I need").

You might try glass jar audio and see if Jeff has a kit ready but not listed. I totally understand the appeal of a kit. It does help quite a bit when you're first starting out. That being said, beware of the bug biting you and ultimately getting sucked into this hobby. In which case, chances are you'll go ahead and be going after more projects where you do in fact end up buying parts sans kit.

Also, to answer your other question, you might look into the minimax kits from beezar. They are all inclusive and it is a nice sounding amp. I've never heard it with your cans, but I doubt you would be disappointed, especially for the price.

Shoot Jeff at glassjar an email. At one time he offered kits for the CKKIII.
