B22 and distortion question - Page 4

Yup, with or without the source connected, it is noisiest at the highest and lowest volume setting, with a very distinct hiss beginning at the second-to-last volume setting. Also, when using the AT AD2000s, there is noise at the highest and lowest setting, but with the Denon D2000s, there is only noise at the highest setting.
What had happened earlier was that I removed b22 boards from the casing and removed the o22 --> b22 wires. Then, I realized that I would like a bit more practice before attempting to desolder/solder the components, so I reinserted the wires and rescrewed the boards on. After turning it on again, the hum was gone. Therefore, I assume that it was the wires from the o22 which somehow were causing the noise?

Long time ago I made a post describing hissing problem like yours. It was very weird because turning pot affected amount of hissing and also using different headphones made hiss gone. Grado SR-60 made no his. DT880 made hiss but with extension cable hiss was gone. Than advised by AMB installed Zobel and problem fixed. His explanation was that some kind of headphones/cables combination make this problem. Also what I observed, at least in my case overheating occurred and bias was unstable.

Being unbeliver also checked if Zobel affected sound quality. Heard no change in sound character.

Zobel should be simple solution.
