Best headphones/IEMs under $50? - Page 2

Get the KSC 75. Seriously, they are INCREDIBLE value for your money, better than the SR60i's. But if you can, go for those instead, if you're more the rock kinda guy. If otherwise, what sort of music do you listen to? It'll be easier to recommend something to you.

Yes you can try Grado SR60. Your place is even nearer to the GradoLabs factory than my place.

Yep, KSC75s, modded or not, are great. If the midrange was a little cleaner, and if the bass extended a little lower, they'd seriously give the SR60s a run for their money.

bump any other suggestions?

Head-Direct (also known as HiFiMan) RE2's. They are not too well known, but if you search for RE2s on the Head Fi forums, you will find that the reviews are generally positive. The mids and highs have good detail, but bass could be lacking if you are a basshead.

I have yet to try the RE2s with an amp. Some HeadFi-ers claim the RE2s perform much better with an amp.

They go for $29 (free shipping if you go with the amazon webstore).

This will get me flamed but I bought a pair of Marshmallows for $20 and they sounded muted - till I changed the EQ on my iPod to Acoustic. After that, they sounded passable.

But I would go for the KSC 75 personally. For $15, it's hard to beat. Especially with mods.
Thats a matter of opinion/preference.
Properly amped, the ksc75 will surprise you!

Try any 60 ohm Koss ksc75,portapro, pro1/pro35, ur40.
PX/PMX100 (NOT PMX200/PX200...theyre terrible!!!!!)
Also NOT AKG K26P.....terrible!

Actually IMHO igrados beat all of them for $50 . Theyre like inbetween px100s and ksc75s.

Theres some headphones in the for sale section around that price that are good buys.

Grado sr60 if you can find it, and I also had a good experience with the Shure Srh240.
They are definitely comfortable, and they produce pretty good sound. Amped - even better.

What I usually listen to: Vocal Trance, Rock, Rap & Hiphop, Instrumentals (Guitar, Piano) and some pop.

Any other ones I should consider? I'm located in Toronto so my selection is very limited.

Thanks.
In case any of you guys forgot, rock is slapped between trance and rap/hiphop, and he mentions piano instrumental pieces. Now, I've never personally heard the sr60, but FWIR, they suck at all of the listed genres excepting Rock, guitar instrumentals, and "some pop."

The PX-100's and the KSC75's handle those genres much better...again, FWIR on the comparison. My experience with the PX-100's is stellar.

Key phrase there. The SR60 may not be ideal for trance but it certainly beats the sub-$50 crop at it. I like the PX100 and KSC75 as much as the next guy but if we're talking about music reproduction the SR60 just does it better.

Thanks for all your opinions guys, I value every single one of them. To update you guys, my recent purchases listed: Grado SR60, MEElectronic M9, SoundMAGIC PL-30 and a Cowon D2+ 16GB. My crappy, worn and torn JVC FX55 can retire.
