I am actually not so sure here. Several people say that the uDac plays in a league well above its price, especially as a DAC only so it may not be short changing your mid-fi amps at all. If you can deal with proprietary drivers (which I refuse to), the Musiland Monitor 02 sounds like a good option, though.

But be sure to keep us updated on other options! I personally would be ok with spending say 150USD if it was a really good DAC that I could use to drive IEMs directly...

Any new developments? I am also looking for a DAC for my laptop, and trying to decide between the uDAC 2 HP and anything else out there at around 100$ for my Sennheiser 448. Unfortunately in my country the only DAC's available in stores are M-Audio with more attention to input rather then output so I must be sure of my choice before I order something from abroad...

 

Any thoughts would be of great help, thank you!
