When I listened to the sound for the 1st time, I was hit by it. I was punched by the not-punchy-bass. I was hoping it would offer much better bass response than SE315.. equals to Klipsch Image...

HiFiMAN HE400
By now I think most of us are familiar with the history behind the HiFiMAN HE-series headphones. What started with a single model has grown into a full...
Ya, the S4 tends to wash out a little...I bumped up my mid range in the EQ and solved the problem rather quickly. they really are much more of a head bobbing headphone over the x10.
I got me some X10's - sound quality = awesome, build quality = sucks - as the infamous 'stress relief' split has occurred on mine after only 3 weeks use!!!
Also infamous is Klipschs customer service, which still haven't got back to me regarding this unacceptable issue.
Shame really as a really good sounding product is getting a really bad rep.
I bought a pair of X10s new, but I have no idea how to tell if it is the newer ones with the fixed strain relief or not.
Im doubting there is even a fix, the Klipsch guys on the Klipsch forum seem to simply deny the flaws in the X5/X10 and say they are isolated incidents. Unless the rubber reliefs are made of some super strong space age material, the fact of the matter is that over time they will fail. You simply cant expect a little piece of poorly designed thin rubber to hold up against the stresses.
It is indeed a shame because this is one great sounding product.
