I found the X10's on clearance in Canada for 199 CAD...

The S4's are sold for 109....

Is it work the 90 buck difference to go for the X10?

thanks for your input.

I can only comment on the S4 - I didn't like them at all. They had decent bass, but the trebles were overemphasized and the mids were non-existent.

That said, I'd encourage you to spend up to get something you'll love. It's great to save a few bucks, but if you divide out an extra $100 over the lifetime of your IEM's it becomes silly not to invest in something nice, IMHO.

I will say go for it...pretty sure X10 has good vocal, more balanced...............

Just suit my taste better

Heard a lot of good word from S4, but it really make me doubt how good would that be.........I mean it has bass for sure, but vocal is creamy and detailed than x10.................come on

I have both S4 and X10. X10 is light years ahead of the S4 in accuracy, smoothness, balance and clarity.Vocals are more realistic and bass tighter and less muddy. If vocal clarity and mids are your thing there really is no hard decision between the two. The X10's are supremely comfy for anyone with very small ear canals, like me. Having said that, after experiencing my Senn IE8's i'll never appreciate either the way i used to. They make both put together sound like a dime store special once burned in, at least to my ears. Their soundstage, imaging, and tonal balance just push all the right buttons, but you'll still grin with the X10's.

Agree with all of that. The X10 is really even more comfortable with sony hybrid tips. They are a bit harder to drive than the S4. Comfort wise, the x10 all the way.

All that said, I listened to my S4 more than my x10. The sound was bigger and funner. But that's a sound I like. The x10 is much more refined.

If I didn't have family, mortgage and my love for other electronics...I think I would buy the Senn's...wow...they must be REALLY REALLY AWESOME.

I found the S4s to be engaging (read: fun), but also very muddy... with tendencies toward sibilance. Eventually, the "mud" and "sibilance" became NOT SO FUN.

I'd go with the X10s.

Depends on your budget really, the extra 100 $ is not worth the extra "refinement" when youre in doubt or on a tight budget. C-Net review states: The bottom line: The Klipsch Image S4 earphones offer up sound quality on par with and better than sets that cost many times as much; they are a spectacular choice for anyone looking for new earbuds. Also on What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision is it 4 out of five.
But in the end it's your ears who will listen for hours to them..
Cheers

That's what i found about my S4's too...sibilance and muddy bass compared to the X10,and in general after you get used to anything better. I listened to my nephew's pair of S4 over the holidays and his didn't seem to have it so much. It isn't because mine don't have enough "burn-in" time that's for sure..and we both use the same sources and i do higher bit rate files. I wonder if there's something going on during manufacture that causes them to vary from pair to pair?
I got my Fischer Eterna's in the mail today, and whoaa..straight out of the box,for less money than the S4...no contest. The Eterna's in a higher class league...in some aspects better than my IE8.

Maybe he was talking about the S4i's, which are around the $100 mark.

Either way, I agree with everyone on the S4's. I have them and they were a pretty muddy until I found the "sweet spot" in my ears to place them... oddly, I had to use the medium tips and actually wear the IEM's upside down and push them in from the back of my ear towards the front of my face (if that makes sense. lol).
