Reduce stress/strain on RCA cables? - Page 2

You need find grommets with diameter slightly smaller than the RCA plug holes.

Tubings would have to be extremely small diameter ones in your case.

Everything should fit snugly then Heatshrink over it to tighten it up to prevent it from moving + solders to the plug itself.

It should be able to move back and forth but needs to be forceful and intentional.

I like to design my cables to be repairable if not it'll be a pain the ass just to take everything out when something goes wrong.

I'm lucky that my country is small, so I can just bring it down to the store and measure it slowly.

I like to use adhesive heatshrink. It is glue + heatshrink all in one. ;-)

Yep, adhesive heatshrink is great. It holds the cable tight and is also removable if need be. Just heat it back up and it come off nice and clean.

The hot glue was really just a trial run. I knew it wouldn't look great, but I thought I'd try. The other cable isn't hot glued or anything yet. I guess I'll look for some grommets or something.

It truly is. Plastic strain reliefs tend to let the cable bend more sharply, but the spring on this is glorious. Alas, I do not know of a source for these or if they even exist. An interconnect with one on each side would be a thing of beauty.

I think these are similar.

Wow, I really wish those were for sale to consumers. The ones you found are not bad, but nothing like that m50.
