Verizon cell phones; which is the best?

For those who use Verizon, which of their cell phones is the best with respect to these three (3) features in decending order of importance:

- #1 consideration for me is: longest battery life. This is by far the most important feature that I'm looking for. Not looking for the biggest screen, nor text pads, nor games, not interested in features or cameras etc.

- #2 most important consideration for me is: best speaker phone.

- #3 most important consideration: belt quick attach / detach system.

Can be non-flip one hand operation phone or flip, but prefer one hand non-flip phone.

Any recommendations?

currently their best phone is the Droid, not sure if it is the strongest in your criteria though if those things are all that matter to you.. the speaker is excellent though I haven't tried it with speaker phone, just podcasts and stuff.

I have an Alias 2, the battery life is good, I don't know what you consider long, but it lasts for days if I'm not constantly jabbering on it(officially 5 and halfish hours talk time, 16 days standby). I use the speaker phone and have had equal success with it as I have with other phones so no problems there. Dunno about the belt quick attach/detach I think you could rig something up for this one. Also a phone you should consider that my brother just got is the Rock. Its ****ing indestructible for thing and it has a button on it that flips the phone open essentially making it not a flip phone. The speakerphone on it is pretty good but not great, and the battery life on it is like 6 hours talk time and 26 days standby. I would have to say though my alias is better at speakerphone than my brothers rock, but that thing is also indestructible so.

on another note, my brother had the original version of that phone for 3 years and it still worked fine and he beat the heck out of it, working at a quarry that produces sand, kinda mucks up the works, but it still came out like a champ

Got the rock and so far I like it. I didn't expect them to be able to transfer my contacts but they did. At first the guy insisted that I had to upgrade my current plan to one that cost $50.00 more, until I insisted or I wouldn't get the phone, so the other guy suggested one that cost the same and added 50 minutes - funny how that happened.

What is the state of cell phone batteries? Should I run down the first charge as close to fully expended as possible before I charge? Do that all the time, or is it unnecessary? Or can I charge it anytime I'm not using it?

First charge - go to 100%
2nd and on - Suggested to keep it between 15-85% <--- lasts longer. Charging it overnight ruins the battery but everyone does it.

newegg promotions

hey i hope i'm not hi-jacking this thread by posting this; if i am i can start another thread. but i am actually looking into upgrading my phone to a smart phone too and stumbled on these promotions at newegg. i'm eligible for a free phone (or i'll get credit towards a new phone) in april, but from what i understand it's a better deal to go through newegg to upgrade my plan now rather than go through verizon. am i right, or is there something in the fine print that i'm missing?

yep you did miss 1 important thing. those prices are for a new activation. so unless you want to sign up under some other name then the price will be higher then what they have listed. I would say wait the 2 months and extend your contract you will probably get more phone for your money
