How to bypass headphone-jack mute?

Hi,

I have a 5:1 surround home theatre system. Now, when I plug the headphones in, the rest of the speakers get muted. Is there any way to bypass this so I can listen to phones while the speakers are still playing?

I read somewhere on the internet that it's actually something inside the headphone-jack which initiates the mute...I don't know how to override this and was hoping for some tips

Open the cabinet of the home theatre system, then take a closer look.
You may be able to "fix" it with a soldering iron or a small plier . .

Thanx! I will take a look inside the amp tomorrow to see if there are any obvious things which will override the jack-mute. I thought there was a trick on how to insert the jack in order to override the mute... Or maybe soldering two parts of the jack together... I've heard something like that, but I don't really remember the specific details ;P

I bet that when you insert the plug there is mechanical action that trigers to open a circuit to deactivate the signal to the speaker section. You just need to find that out and somehow keep the circuit closed.
