Best headset?

Hello all, I'm pretty new to this forum and I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question. If it isn't, I apologize for wasting your time.

I would like to know if anyone can suggest the best quality headset, that is, a pair of headphones with a built in microphone. I don't know much about this peripheral, so I apologize for not knowing the current options available.

An example of what I'm looking for is something like the Razer Megolodon or the Logitech G35, but not USB-based.

It will be used primarily as a recording studio headset, but it would be perfect if it can also be used for gaming. I wish to stay under the $50 range if possible, with $200 as my maximum budget.

If you mean you actually want to monitor with it, isn't there a version of the K271 with a microphone? Those wouldn't be the greatest gaming headphones in the world, but they would definitely be a leap above the more common headphones advertised as gaming phones.

Hmmm, using headset for recording studio, that's very weird.

Other than Sennheiser PC 350, I am afraid there isn't many choices. And all of them are gaming purpose, not recording purpose.

It is always to wise to buy separate microphone and headphones.

Very, very odd question here. No idea why you would want to game AND monitor with the same headphones. Headsets are garbage anyway. Get some really good recording cans and just attach a mic to it. Do you NEED the mic? I used to play very competitively and never needed one, IMO they're a waste.

Well, Beyer made a good headset which was combination of DT770 and microphone.

And yes, I've never heard a good "recording headset" in the first place....

For gaming, it's probably easier to find a good set of headphones with a USB mic or wire-attached mic so that you have a good set of headphones with a mic, it's hard to find a good set for both.

I do believe Beyers (I don't remember which DT model) have some but they aren't famous among these forums.

I believe you are thinking of the DT880. DT770 are bassy while the DT990 are said to be bright and DT880 neutral.

Looks like it is the Creative World of Warcraft headset that is the best in TomsHardware's eyes.

I lol'd. They know about computer hardware like me, but those can't seriously be good. Just another typical overrated headset.

I had to laugh at this "WoW" thing...

No, this can't be good. Even if signal is uncompressed the quality of inner amp and headphones as whole cannot be good.

Do something like this:

Then you can pick out whichever headphones are best for you. And the mic mentioned in the thread, I paid around $5 for it off of Amazon and the quality is surprisingly good!
