BIL 2010: Minds Set Free
For those of you that aren't lucky enough to get into the annual TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) Conference in Long Beach, CA, there's the BIL conference, described as "BIL is an open, self-organizing, and emergent arts, science, society and technology unconference" held simultaneously in Long Beach. I'm most likely attending (coincidentally no classes on Fri =0) although still figuring out travel plans, since it lasts a couple of days, held starting this Friday, Feb 12-14. Several TED speakers have actually cross-talked at BIL, which is pretty incredible.

| BIL loves TED. TED is a great place to sit and listen to interesting ideas. Those ideas make it online, and the unwashed masses get to see. There’s the problem, the unwashed masses don’t get invited to TED. TED is also six-thousand dollars (US$6,000). Which is prohibitively expensive for most people, including a great number of people with good ideas worth spreading. BIL is being created as a free space for people with ideas to come together and spread them. |
