Help. y1 Full ++ mated to y2 not recognized.

Well, I finally got the y1 and y2 assembled, did the Initial checks and have the proper voltages. But neither my Mac or Windows machine will recognize a new audio device.

The red light on SW1D does illuminate.

I re-flowed the usb connection to the board and double checked for shorts and found none - except for "U1U" between ZGND and AGNDL.

What else should I check?

Here are pics of the 2 boards:

Step #3...
Does the system recognize the USB device if you install a jumper across J2U pins 1 and 2?
(do not plug the Y2 board into the Y1 board, just install the jumper and plug the USB cable in)

No, it does not.

it may be a good idea to make the power connections as shown in this pic on the gamma 1 board so that it can run stand-alone, and troubleshoot them one at a time.

So I'm thinking that if installing a jumper across J2U pins 1 and 2 did not work, that there is a problem with U1U. Correct me if I'm wrong, but what good would bridging the USB/DAC boards be at this time if the USB side does not work?

I've checked the continuity between USB pins 2/3 and U1U PINS 22/23 and they're all good.

Guess I'll be ordering some Chip Quik and replacing U1U unless there is anything else you might suggest first.

Did you use the correct chip for U2U? What's the marking on it?
Also make sure U1U is installed in the proper orientation. Otherwise, see the γ1 thread and γ2 thread for additional guidance.

Can you post a better image of the PCM2707?

Your orginal image has to much noise to tell if that is a solder bridge or not.

U2U marking = "SQAN"

U1U is orientated with the dot at the lower right corner when looking at the y1 board upright.

Thanks for the replies!

I like the old picture better!!
This is one of those times when cleaning it again is not going to hurt anything.

Yes, that was bad. I could not even see that until I took the picture.

Here it is cleaned, but still not working. Is Pin 25/26 a short:

See schematic: pin 25 and 26 both go to ground, so it's not a short.

Thank you amb.

Is U2U marking = "SQAN" correct?

It's not correct for the Texas Instruments or NXP versions of the 74AHC1G08 chip. What part did you use and what's the manufacturer?
