Heads up about refurbed Sansa Fuze...

Hey all, I was on the hunt for a player and in my research spent a lot of time on this forum. I ended up with the Sansa Fuze, partly because I was under the impression that I could get a refurbished V1 (and thus, Rockbox-able) from Tiger Direct. Anyway, I received it the other day and while it's nice it is a V2. So I just wanted to post a heads up incase anyone was hoping to get a V1 from Tiger- they might still have some, but mine is definitely V2.

Newegg has 8GB refurbs for $47 shipped. I ordered one, it'll be here soon, and I'll post the version.

EDIT: It's a V2. I was really hoping for a V1 so I could Rockbox it, but I don't think the stock firmware will be too bad. The Fuze itself looks and seems to operate like brand new. Time to fill it up now...

Yeah, wanna trade?

Incase it matters, I bought mine through eBay but the seller was tiger direct. I'm still not sure if Ima keep it, but not sure what else to do with it. Might be hard to sell with "refurb" written on the back. But rockbox was just one reason I picked it, it still looks like a solid player (especially for the money).

Maybe I just got lucky. I don't see a refurb on the back like when I got a refurb sansa e260 which was one of their lines before fuze.

Just saw the post on newegg and kinda relieves me. I saw the newegg price after I saw tiger direct and could have got it for like 15 cheaper. I'm actually not sure about rockboxing it for now but could do it in the future but dont want to lower battery lfe.

My V2 is a boner: I don't see how users can love it without RB. It is horrible to navigate, doesn't charge properly, has horrible headphone memory and on and on. I really hope for V2 RB or this think will never get real time from me. I like the size and the fact that the V1 is RB able, but.. dear god, otherwise, it is a crook of my time.

I'll agree with the navigation but its not that much worse than the cowon d2 when i had it before I changed the flash skin. What is headphone memory?

Because volume can only be adjusted whilst playing music, plugging headphones in after using an amp with its line out is killer. Sansa need to have a gradual (like RB) volume attenuator or allow more direct volume enhancement.

The Cowon D2 was one of the worst I've used, but this is just awkward. The sound is good enough that the unit is a keeper, but... dear me..

Overstock still has V1 of the Sansa c250. Better supported with Rockbox than the Fuze. Just $24 bucks for a 2GB that you can expand to 32...just saying.

Well, I'm in it for the decent output of the Fuze and, not living in the USA, I really cannot take advantage unless I intruded upon a fellow headfier... hmm...
heh..maybe I'm just easy to please in terms of dap. I'm fine with the fuze with stock firmware but I'll probably put rockbox on it sometime this or next week just to see how it is just to compare it.
The stock firmware just isn't doing it for me. It's not bad, but it could be easily improved with some updates. With the exceptions of not having a volume rocker, no gapless playback, and no Rockbox (yet), I'm happy with it. Worth $47 for an 8GB, and after it gets a Rockbox port, it'll probably become my main DAP. Now I just need a 32GB micro SD card. Then I'll have a 40GB Fuze (8+32) and a 20GB Clip+ (4+16).

I have doubts about them releasing a rockbox for v2 however. With the e260 v1 can be rockboxed but nothing on v2. I'm not sure what prevents them from releasing one for v2 compared to v1.

32GB sdhc isnt out yet is it? I'm probably going to buy a 16gb sdhc and make it 22gb and when the 32gb comes out and is affordable buy that and put the 16gb into my e260.

e260 v2 doesn't fall under e200 v2? They've got Rockbox runtimes listed for e260 v2, so I'm assuming there's Rockbox for it.

32GB micro SDHC isn't out yet. 32GB SDHC has been out for some months now.
