Is new iPod Classic really that bad? - Page 4

Returned mine!  Why?

  1. Sounded thin in comparison to iPhone 3gs.
  2. The UI is actually not super-snappy or as convenient as Sony or iPhone controls. (Have to go through menus and wait to get to control VOLUME.  Lame!!!)
  3. The scroll wheel is only input to control volume.  LAME!!!  (Dedicated volume controls the only way to go...maybe get a headphone that has one like Senn earbuds then?)
  4. Drive noise.  Wheezy.  (Wanted more storage but...sounded like my iPod was being lightly tased, bro.)

Controlling volume on an iPod is a nightmare

..that's enough to keep me away from iPods :(

Not everyone could be wrong over no hiss on classic , so could be my classic is possibly faulty.

Not sure where you are, but as far as I am aware, ipods in Europe are volume capped by Apple to meet EU health legislation, whereas they are not in USA.  It is similar situation with Cowon players - I made the mistake when I got my J3 recently of choosing Europe region when setting it up and it was ridiculously underpowered.  Quick format and reset to US region and bingo - decent volume.

im in the EU and i cant imagine ever maxing the hp out on an ipod with a set of IE8 and keeping my hearing intact.

btw you realise the so called EU volume limiting thing was actually only a french thing, just some manufacturers found it easier to make it EU wide rather than just do a french version.
