A few years ago I got the idea that I'd build a Nixie tube clock. I went looking around for tubes, and discovered that back in the early '90s, the Russians made vacuum florescent displays (the bright green displays you see in elevators, car clocks, VCRs, and Squeezeboxen) in big upright cylindrical tubes that look like Nixies. So I decided to use those instead.

It's a standard hour:minute clock with VFDs showing the time. The case is a solid block of aluminum, milled out underneath for the circuit board, and then wet-sanded to a nice brushed finish. The tubes float above it with a separate hole drilled for each pin.

I made two of these; one's sitting on the mantel in my living room, and the other has been collecting dust. My headphone habit is getting expensive, so I'm selling off one of the clocks. I designed this myself from the ground up, circuit board and case included, and built it by hand; there are only two of them in existence (unless I make more). It's not 'audio' as such, but it's interesting and electronic, and I'd rather a Head-Fier have it than someone random on eBay. I'd like to get $300 shipped, or make an offer...
