Without any hesitation at all. The sound is at the top tier of portable audio without an extra amplification. The screen is amazing. I personally have never used my walkman or ipod touch to surf the web, so all the complaints about the X having a horrible web browser meant nothing to me. I LOVED the youtube function. That I used quite often.

I only had 2 complaints about the X. It did not have a dedicated shuffle mode. You have to go into your songs and just pick one and start playing...and then it is in shuffle mode. The other complaint is that SensMe channels were deleted from the X while they are on the S series. that's my favorite feature.

I'm planning to do a review on them sometime soon, seems like headfi has had their head in the dark about this amazing player. Ipods have left a bad taste in my mouth and zune audio features were a bit lacking which is what led me to it.
I will eagerly await a review. I couldn't agree more with the ipod statement and that it seems the headfi crowd does not know much about this player or has not had a good experience with it.

When it first hit the market, I really wanted to see one because of some of the rave reviews it got on sound quality alone. Sigh....but it never hit a store. It was on Best Buy's website as coming soon for months!!!

Best buy is actually an authorized e-tailer, you can buy it from them at MSRP.

I should review it within the next few days, been toying with a few new amps so I haven't had a chance to get around it. I'll send you a pm with a thread link when I make one. cheers!

what about the Sony's S540 Series...how do those sound

The Sony S series is almost on par with the X series. It is really good sounding. Nice Bass boost and Clear audio. Well worth the money.

Sansa Fuze + the best IEMs you can get. Look into TF10+reshell or used customs and a reshell.

~450 bucks? Hmm with those genres I'd pick up a s:flo2/iBasso T3orT4/TripleFi10 But I mean those IEMs are VERY subjective lol.

But how good is the quality of your music? I think I'm done upgrading my equipment for a while but I really need to buy more CDs
