Hey guys! Ok I finally got some money and I want the best portable experience I can get with the money I have.. I currently have $476 dollars... I sold my iPod Touch (sold it to my girlfriends mom).. hated the sound.. Sold my beats by dr dre... Hated them... And got money for my birthday. Been saving up.. Now I'm here asking you guys for help.. Whats the best mp3 player, headphones I can buy? Should I get the 160gb ipod classic? Zune HD? (looks GORGEOUS.. I heard from anythingbutipod.com that it had the best sounding hardware to date.. is it true? Do any of you audiophiles use it?) I want the best sound. If it helps I listen to Metal, Rock, Rap, Rock, Trance, Classical.. Pretty much everything lol. Well guys I'm really happy I got some money to buy some equipment.. So please help me! Thanks!

I would buy a clip 8gb+ and a 16gb SD card then buy some high end IEMS

So I guess that amount is for your entire portable setup. I would first look at the phones and then get the dap afterwards. IMO next to the quality of files you are using the phones make the biggest difference in SQ. Another thing to consider is if you want something with flash memory or a hard drive inside as that will change your choices in your dap.

I am not wrong

"Sound Quality: The Zune HD is the best sounding hardware to date. The sound is even throughout the spectrum adding more clarity to the mid-range and mid-bass compared to the Zune 120. Compared to the Sansa Clip+ it is a little bit more on the warmer side. It does not suffer from the hard drive background noise like the Zune 30 / 80 / 120 did with background noise near non-existent. With the Shure SE530’s that typically hiss with all players since they are so sensitive, the Zune HD’s background noise is among the lowest with the SE530s ranked there with the Clip+. Overall it’s a very clean MP3 player sound wise."

Zune HD Review

IMO, they are referring to "The Zune HD is the best sounding ZUNE hardware to date".

Making a statement "The Zune HD is the best sounding hardware to date" is pretty ridiculous if they are referring to all available players. They doesnt test every single player available.

I agree. I do not have the s:flo2, but the reviews are really great, regarding sound quality.
If you are in more of a hurry then pick up the Sana +. If you are in a hurry and video is a preference, go with the 8 or 16 GB Walkman. It'll run you about 100.00 at Best Buy or Walmart. But sound quality it's among the best around. Headphones is a whole other issue I guess depending on music preference. If you prefer a full size to an IEM and you want to start cheap with great sound, then go for the PortaPro. Currently on sale at Best Buy also.

Also, if you're looking at the Zune HD because of how nice the video looks, then I would strongly suggest stepping up your game and getting the Sony X. Tremendous video quality and far superior sound to the Zune. But that would pretty much use up your budget leaving you little to purchase a nice set of headphones.

Happy hunting!!

Edit: My bad, just noticed your musical preference. PortaPro is still a cheap solution for you if you don't need an IEM.

I have an iPod Classic ( good if you are going to rip CD's in lossless) and Sennheiser IE8. Simple, straight forward, and very happy with the combo.

Samsung YP-P3, DNSE 3.0 and audio-upscale will do wonders to your ears. The only thing comparable is the S9 which can be argued with all day.

Where can you buy the YP-P3? It seems like it never hit the stores here in the states.

I'd personally go for the X series if you can afford it.

The Zune HD sounds good, but it leaves something to be desired for me. The sound of the S9 was ok, but the BBE effects made it sound rather artificial and I didn't like that.

I wish I can recommend the Nationite S:flo2/Teclast T51, but I'm afraid I never used it.

BH audio is one of few authorized dealers in the states, other than that there's amazon and ebay.

I'm planning to do a review on them sometime soon, seems like headfi has had their head in the dark about this amazing player. Ipods have left a bad taste in my mouth and zune audio features were a bit lacking which is what led me to it.
