Heavy buzzing /w minimax + bantam

Hey guys,
After enough drama I finally completed my minimax (thanks tomb!) and bantamDAC which I built first. On the thread I started earlier, I built the minimax but was getting no sound output apart from heavy buzz. I booted into windows and found that the Dac/amp work successfully. Now I have another mystery problem. The moment I turn my amp volume past the silent point I get nasty buzz. Past the 3rd mark is painful and over the top loud. I read somewhere that if the buzz is coming from some problem within the amp, then unplug your sound source and see if the buzz is there. Luckily, once I unplugged the DAC the buzz was completely gone even with minimax at max volume. I assume this means a issue within the DAC? The only thing I can say about it is that I soldered the rca cables directly onto the board, making the bantamDAC usb. I separated the braid and only soldered the main wire onto the board. I'm guessing now the buzz is because I didn't ground them? No clue how to, do I simply solder the braids together?

The other thing that is weird is that the audio quality of the setup is rather low.
I know that the buzz/static sound is there, but apart from that it's quite poor. I still listen through my computers onboard, but this is a lot worse. I'm thinking it's because of the grounding issue, dunno.

Anyhow, thanks so much for all the help! I don't think I'd be this far on my own.
Hopefully we can iron out these last little bugs and start enjoying some good sound. :-)

We need to isolate the issues. Do you have another source handy - anything - iPod, CD player, etc. that you can plug into the MiniMAX? Just for safety's sake, measure to see if there's any offset at the MiniMAX's RCA jacks before you plug something else in, though.

Most likely, it's a grounding issue with the Bantam. If you lose a ground connection on one of the channels, you'll get a nasty and very loud buzz. But let's make sure the MiniMAX is OK, first.

EDIT: No offense, but there's a MiniMAX thread we should be using - this makes two you've created already tonight. The mods are going to get us.

I stuck the multimeter ends into the ground and left/right tube bias connections on the backside, and they read "1". I also stuck the positive end into the right rca plug and negative into the other. Is this what you were referring to? It simply said "0.00".

Also I discovered that if I left one cable from the DAC plugged in and the other I took and touched the center point to the outer part of the rca input (outside cover of rca jack) the buzz completely disappeared. I don't know too much about how grounding works, but seems like it established a ground? And the buzz disappeared.

p.s.
my minimax settings are:
ps voltage 27V
tube bias 12V
db bias 90mV

These are the same settings that I set after listening less than 2 hours ago.
I'll recheck them later and probably finish tuning the db bias to 110mV.

EDIT: I'm so sorry about the threads! I didn't know I wasn't allowed.
