For instance, one music source, one amp 2 or 3 headphones? I know they make Y-splitters, but it seems to me you need independant volume controls for each output since different headphones will drive differently. I posted this here because i was wondering if they make any sorta of device that will do this.

Correct, it is very hard to amp two cans w/ only one output. Even if you use two cans w/ the same impedance (say two Grado cans) you could have two users who listen at different levels.
