what's your budget?

what kind of music/guitarists do you like? (Fender sound vs. Gibson sound)

if you really really really see yourself sticking with it, don't go cheap on the guitar. yes, there will be build variances within models, but you're going to get what you pay for and a lot of what you're paying for is playability. if the guitar is "hard" to play, you'll get frustrated and want to give up.

the difference between my original cheap-o Fender Squire and my ESP, on playability alone, is ridiculous.
