Nice work,.........I just hope I'm lucky is all. If I get a V.2 I'm sending it back ASAP. Really, no RockBox, no Fuze.

Well, to update this thread, Rockbox completely transforms the fuze v1 for the better!

There's no question to what sounds better tbh. more detail, not depth, more layered, greater sense of soundstage, more features.....
Time to replace my AoTuV Vorbis ~210kbps with Quicktime AAC at ~192kbps to save the little bit more space.

My settings:

Stereo Width: 250%
Crossfeed:

Direct Gain: -3.0dB
Cross Gain: -4.0dB
High Frequency Attenuation: -12.5dB
High Frequency Cutoff: 1500Hz

Anymore than this I've found exaggerates the crossfeed too much = makes it sound unnatural.
Tested this thoroughly.
The EQ is off.

I just bought one of these off ebay. Hopefully it'll reach me in a week or two. Will definitely try rockbox out (the ebay sellers I emailed were all very nice and checked for me which version).

if anyone is interested, i have a like new V1 8gb fuze in black. id trade it for a new or like new v2 8gb fuze in black. i use an LOD and it doesnt allow for rockboxing so someone else who would rockbox it might as well benefit from it. must have feed back here. im in no way benefiting from this trade, i just thought since the v1 is so highly sought after, someone might as well benefit. if no one is interested thats fine too. anyone who doesnt have a fuze needs to get one! i love it.

that's the only drawback to rockbox. if you could use lod as well as rockbox that would be pretty nice.

Rockbox'd fuze is amazing. My only grieves are the noisy buttons and battery life. but the big screen makes it really nice.

My fuze arrived today and I just slapped rockbox on it. Interestingly enough, with some setting changes it sounds a bit closer to my v1 clip XD;;; When I got it I noticed it was bassier than my clip...but I couldn't get accustomed to the sound. But after tweaking some settings it seems okay XD; Rockbox is good..I just can't work out how to get playlists going.

I ended up getting a V2 Fuze, so back it goes. But, I got a fantastic deal on a Toshiba Gigabeat F40, so I'm gonna load it up w/tunes and enjoy.

Oh, BTW, my friend sold it to me already RockBoxed - so for me all I lose is the S&H on the Fuze. Great deal from a great friend.

Sound improved quite a bit with Rockbox. EQ is now actually usable. Interface is a bit more finicky, but I use that only for a few seconds for every +/- hour of listening anyway...

Now if there only was a decent theme for it... Oh well, looks like it's time to fire up the graphics editor and do it myself...

erm have you tried the Spartan Black theme? its rather decent, but if you feel like making a nicer theme, PLEASE DO, I'd love to test it out!! LOL

Lol! Don't worry about it FLACvest, if I start to feel uncomfortable I'll just get a cyber restraining order :P

here's a cfg file opened with notepad. a little different than the three(?) others posted. i suppose it's possible to edit any cfg then rename it and drop it into the rockbox folder and use it right away. here's what i use with most headphones, most lately the hippo vb's even though this was originally done with the tf10s in mind.

For some reason, I've been thinking for the past year that I have a V2 Fuze. I just checked again yesterday, and I was wrong!

So, I install Rockbox yesterday, and I'm quite impressed! Love the interface and features (yay for gapless playback!), and the fine-tuning available for the audio is pretty great. It's nice to have crossfeed back again, too... didn't realize how much I missed it since I sold my old 3Move!
