Program for monitoring quad core + HT cores

Thread Starter
im looking for a program that will allow me to monitor the usage of the 4 physical cores and 4 HT cores of my i7 920

im testing my new comp with doing a handbrake encode and getting 150 fps without overclocking on normal quality x.264 codec and reading 80% utilisation of all 4 physical cores

is there a way to see if 8 cores are being used? and to what degree?

Firstly, you have 4 cores, SMT allows 2 threads per core. There are still only 4 cores so you can only monitor them per se. You could go to the performance tab in Task Manager to see the usage of all 8 threads.

Coretemp will give you loads as well as decent temperature readings.

If you want to crush your pc, download a version of linpack like LinX, IBT etc. Watch the temps soar baby!

I use Real Temp with my i7 920, it keeps a temperature number of all my 4 cores and my video card in my system tray. It's all I need.

Definitely Core Temp, and or Everest Ultimate Edition

RealTemp is usually correct, otherwise coretemp. Use taskmgr to monitor threads.
