Looking for a portable CD player - Page 4

The d33 is not in the same realm as d303 or any other top notch discmans, but they are common and plentiful and cheap.

The d33 is still good and has a very powerful output which will mostly benefit dynamic driver headphones in your inventory.

also the d25 is overrated. It's claim to fame is the "turbo mod" where you stack a 2nd dac chip on top of the first and bend one of the first dacs legs along with some other mds like replacing opamp and caps although some chinese forum liked stock for classical music.

Edit: forgot to mention d33 is a battery muncher. It'll drain your batteries fast than head-fi drains your wallet

My Sony D321 is dead... :( I've been avoiding buying another Discman due to price and the fact that I'd not use it on the go, because I have my new trusty J3 by my side, which is more reliable in terms of battery. I should plug my headphones into my old Kenwood stereo though.

That's the big disadvantage about PCDP.  They can be dead any time due to its age.  But so far I found most of the old discman problem is due to the old capacitors are getting leakage.  If you left the leakage there and didn't clean it, it will eat the circuits and cannot repair anymore.

Granted, I just pulled it out of its hibernation last week for the first time in years. I wanted to see if it still worked... Sadly it did... for 2 songs... then... it stopped spinning... :( I found it when cleaning out my room thoroughly to see what to throw away and what to keep. If it still worked I would have used it for short times... Since I do love untouched audio :) I miss the 90s... Though I admit, I am happier now because now my parents can't freak out at me for buying $500 headphones as long as I have the capital to justify it (which is going to be the approximate price of my next can... Still deciding between HD650 and RS2i, but that is neither here nor there, and will require me demoing them extensively and saving up)
