Are you a cinephile? - Page 3

I mostly watch movies at home. We have a 92" screen for a Optoma projector that is 720p. It looks nice. I only go to the theater if it looks really good, or I feel that it will be good and my home theater surround setup won't do it justice.

As far as movies my two top favorites are Spirited Away and The Boondock Saints.

I watch a lot of movies and I keep a list of every one I've ever seen. I'm 25 and I've seen over 1,300 films so I guess that's a lot. I've had a Netflix subscription since 2003 which accounts for quite a few of those. As much as I love movies, I don't get into collecting them and I watch very few movies more than once. I only own a couple dozen DVD's/HD-DVDs/Blu-ray discs.

Over the last couple years I worked my way through famous/culturally significant films. I went through most of the IMdb top 250 movies I had not seen. Nowadays I have to dig a little deeper to find the good stuff.

Enjoy movies, but wouldn't call myself a cinephile.

Yeah I liked Battle Royal a lot, but I didn't bother with the other two.
With the Revenge Trilogy, Old Boy was the second. The other two weren't bad, and actually well done, but Old Boy is the best out of the three. The story was just awesome with a crazy "Oh no they didn't" twist at the end

i think that my film addiction may be even greater than my music one. I love movies, ive got a pretty sweet surround sound system, specially for my little dorm room, with a epik subwoofer, and a pioneer kuro 50in plasma. Ive got around 50 dvd's, 135 hd-dvd's and probably around 50 blu rays so far. Some of my favorites would be Pan's Labyrinth, The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Gattaca, Braveheart, Transformers, Perfume, Let the Right One In, The Godfather, Fight Club, Zodiac.

Dont really think i could say who my favorite director is, i like so many

David Fincher would definitely be on the list lol but that was just a quick list off the top of my head while sitting at my desk at work Tarantino would be on there, so would guillermo, though only because of Pan's Labyrinth, scorsese as well.

Yep, have a room, projector, decent sound system for it. Spent way too much over the years buying the same movies in VHS, DVD and now BluRay. Wonder what format will be next?

I find that these days, many cinephiles or movie enthusiasts are now watching more movies on the computers and even streaming them through Netflix. Another new way for movie going.

You're a cinéaste or cinephile. Incredible list. Excellent work watching films. Keep it up! Try writing one yourself. You're ready!

I'm an old cinéaste. Even worked in Hollywood for 6 years. Helped bring "Seven" to the screen, we ressusitated David Fincher's career. No one wanted to touch him after "Alien 3." Been through all the genres and greats. Now I like watching fluffy B&Ws on TCM, you know, the really dumb stuff made in the 30s and 40s. Light comedies. Something very unchallenging and peaceful about watching them. No jolts, jars or shocks. Weird, like taking a handful of xanax.

I would say yes I am. I own far more DVD's and Blu-rays (700+) than I do cd's. Just can't stop buying the damn things. Have not been to a theater in probably 15 years. I have a respectable HT setup so I enjoy watching undisturbed from my own couch much more.
